London: Israel is willing to extend a three-day ceasefire in the Gaza strip that started on Tuesday but Hamas is yet to agree, say Israeli officials as indirect meetings continue in Egypt.

According to the BBC, United States President Barack Obama said that both the sides needed to build up trust and that Gaza’s sustenance would be at stake if it remained closed off from the world.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of using civilians as human shields after the 72-hour truce began.

More than 1,800 Palestinians and 67 Israelis have reportedly died since the conflict began.
A Thai national in Israel was also reported dead.

The United Nations said that more than 1,300 civilians including 400 children have died since the conflict started.
