London: One would expect Indian cricketers to spend most of their leisure time between matches behind the nets. But they seem to prefer more productive activities like getting their hairstyles perked up for their crunch games in the World Cup. After some clinical performances on the field, especially the massive 89-run win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the World Cup, the Indians were handed a two-day break before they regrouped. But, when they finally hit the training ground, they caught attention of the fans not for their on-field flourishes but on account of their off-field haircuts. What is intriguing is that Captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal have all gone in for punk hairstyle. Perhaps they just want a defiant new look. After all the punk scene is hea-vily associated with ‘anti-establishment’ and rebellion. Possibly the military crew cut adds to the aggression on field. Just as a spiky top gives one an added dimension.

The sharp sides and an asymmetrical fringe make it stand out that bit more. M S Dhoni, of course, is a past master at adopting the latest style trends. His mane is till the stuff of folklore. The man behind the hairstyles is London-based celeb stylist Aalim Hakim. He posted photographs of the cricketers on Instagram. In the pictures, Dhoni is seen sporting faded sides along with his beard. In fact, Kohli is also seen sporting the same look with a heavier beard. The cricket team also took to social media to post photos of the four and asked the fans to vote on who they thought looked the coolest. One can’t help wondering where the Pakistani cricketers get their hair styled.
