Mumbai: Chris Gayle was in peak 'Universe Boss' mode on Friday as he produced a hilarious performance at the bowling crease against England. The West Indian opening batsman was thrown the ball in a desperate attempt to buy an English wicket - but he stole the show in other ways. After warming up with a loose rendition of the 'Floss' dance, Gayle ambled to the crease in his reflective aviator sunglasses to send down some gentle off-breaks. He dipped into his bag of tricks to produce mock reactions after most
deliveries - but the highlight came when he toyed with umpire Kumar Dharmasena with a fake DRS appeal while reciting the countdown clock aloud. Gayle nearly picked up a wicket too - reviewing a close shout against makeshift number three Chris Woakes to no avail. His performance drew loud responses from the West Indies crowd on a day with little else for them to cheer about, as a Joe Root century steered England past their target of 213 with 16.5 overs and eight wickets to spare.
