July 2 will witness a total solar eclipse. The event will last up to four minutes and 33 seconds and will be visible from Chile, Argentina, and South Pacific Ocean. There is a belief that the eclipse, be it lunar or solar, has a harmful effect on pregnant women and their babies. The reason is believed to be the contamination and malefic effects of Rahu and Ketu. Hence, there are certain restrictions that are being followed during eclipses. In the article, we list a few.

Here are 5 things to avoid during an eclipse when you are pregnant:

· Pregnant women should avoid fasting.

· Pregnant women are advised not to cut, sew or knit.

· Avoid using sharp objects like scissors and knives.

· Avoid stepping out of the house.

· Avoid direct sunlight. One can use heavy curtains or newspapers on doors and windows to avoid sunlight.
