Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akhateej, is a highly auspicious and holy day for Hindus. It falls on the 3rd tithi (Lunar day) of bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Indian month of Vaishakha and this day is one of the brightest and luckiest day for Hindus. In 2019, Akshaya Tritiya fall on the 7th of the May. As per Hindu calendar, Akshaya Tritiya falling on a Rohini Nakshatra which considered very auspicious. This year, after 15 years, Sun, Venus, Moon and Rahu will come on his exalted sign which will make this day very auspicious.
Akshaya Tritiya means “Endless” that which never diminishes. Hence the benefits of doing any japa, yajna, Pitra-Tarpan, Dan-punya on this day never diminish and remain with the person forever. As per Hindu Astrology, the Akshaya Tritiya do not need any Muhurta to start any new ventures and this day is free from all malefic effect. So there is no need to check the auspicious time to do any good deeds because of each and every moment of this day is prosperous. Akshaya Tritiya is believed to bring good luck and success.
It was on this day that Goddess Annapurna devi was born. There are many reasons which makes this day very important as per Hindu Mythology. It is considered the day when Tretha Yug commenced. The River Ganga, the most sacred river of India, descended to the Earth from heaven on this day. It is on this day that poor Sudama, the best friend of Krishna visits him to greet him after he became the King. It traditionally observed as the Birthday of Parsurama, the sixth incarnation of God Vishnu. Ved Vyas and Lord Ganesha began to write Mahabharat. This is also believed that Pandavas discovered weapons under the earth which made them victorious against the Kauravas. It was on this day Kubera received his wealth and the position as custodian of wealth and property along with Goddess Lakshmi.
As per Hindu culture, one can perform any auspicious ceremony like marriage, house and Shop inauguration ceremony etc. on this day. If one purchases gold on this day, it is believed the buying Gold on Akshaya Tritiya brings prosperity and more wealth in coming future. Purchase of gold on this day, will never diminish and would continue to grow or appreciate. If one purchases other precious items, Land and Property or Vehicle, it will be very beneficial. Any auspicious activity started on this day has a long lasting effect.
It is believed that if the wishes are not being fulfilled even after proper remedies and those who are having constant losses in their business, if they start any new activity on this day it will give auspicious result.
On this auspicious day, one should wake up early in the morning and take an auspicious bath. Offer sandalwood paste and flower to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi and Lord Kubera. One may perform Madhusudhana ritual with Tulsi archan and also chant Sri Vishnu Sahasranaamam Stotra. Also one may perform charities during this day which will certainly bless the donor. Whatever you offer on the day of Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej will enhance the auspiciousness of Akshaya Tritiya.
