Maharashtra government on Thursday gave nod to Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) to operate the Navi Mumbai international airport that is coming up in Panvel.

The state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray gave its green signal to AAHL as the new concessionaire to the prestigious greenfield airport coming up as a public-private partnership (PPP) project.

The international airport is coming up over 1,160 hectare in Navi Mumbai. The first runway was supposed to be completed in December 2019 but the project has been delayed. Work has also been hit due to Covid-19. Now, the airport is expected to be completed by 2023-2024.

Now, twitteratis are raged by this decision, calling out the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray for it's hypocrisy. Social media users were quick to point out that though Congress is in alliance with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Thackeray failed to take Rahul Gandhi or his ilk seriously. Gandhi had been critical of central government leasing out six airports to Adani group. One Twitter user mocked the Congress and wrote, "Congress sold Navi Mumbai airport to Adani?".

Here's how Twitter reacting to MVA government's approval to allow Adani group to operate the Navi Mumbai international airport:\

Rahul Gandhi had in February this year taken a jibe at PM Modi for naming two bowling ends in the stadium - Reliance End and Adani End. Politicians have been taking potshots at the BJP for this very reason, accusing the party of insulting the legacy of Sardar Patel.
