As artists appreciate Kalidas Academy for its efforts in preserving traditional Indian arts, the ignorance on government’s part distresses them.

Padmashree award recipient Vijay Sharma said, it is a matter of great introspection for government of India that not a single University in India offers a course in miniature painting. The art has been only alive until this era because of Guru-Shishya parampara. Government has done exceptionally great in preserving Classical Indian music as it opened dedicated colleges all over the India.

Something like this is needed for survival of miniature paintings in India. He also said, that it should be a grave concern for the government of Madhya Pradesh that no artist exist in Madhya Pradesh today who paints in traditional Malwa style of painting. Regions Datiya, Orchha and Panna individually make the Malwa School of painting.
