Mumbai: The Chitalsar police have arrested three people for alleged motor vehicle theft.
According to Sunil Lokhande, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Thane, “The accused had stolen ten motor bikes which have been seized. We have seized the bikes worth Rs 4,39,000.” The arrested accused have been identified as Sagar Hari Gaikwad (20), Prashant alias Prem Ratan Divekar (28) and Omkar Thackeray (21).
According to Senior Police Inspector, Ganpatrao Pingle, Chitalsar police station, “On October 22 at around 10:30 pm, we spotted a Royal Enfield Bullet without a vehicle plate number near Vasant Vihar in Thane. The accused Sagar Hari Gaikwad and Prashant alias Prem Ratan Divekar were questioned by the police on patrolling duty. Since, the accused were without bike papers, they were brought to the Chitalsar police station. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime.”
According to the police, “The complainant Sunil Baban Somvanshi’s motorcycle (MH-04 Z441) had been stolen near DMart store at a parking lot near Garden Estate in Manpada on October 22. Later, the complainant approached us and an FIR had been registered.”
“The accused are history-sheeters. A total of nine cases have been registered against them at Chitalsar police station, Rabodi police station, Kapurbavadi police station, Kasarvadawli police station, Wagle estate police station, Bhiwandi police station and Ganeshpuri police station in Thane,” said Pingle.
Gaikwad is a resident of Manorama nagar in Thane. Divekar and Thackerey are both residents of Manpada.
“The accused have been arrested and booked under Section 379 and Section 34 of the IPC,” said Pingle.
