Mumbai : Shiv Sena workers allegedly attacked BJP MP Kirit Somaiya and other BJP party workers at Ravan Dahan event ( burning of the devil) at a Dussehra rally in Mulund on Tuesday.
During the rally at Neelam Nagar in Mulund East, Somaiya and other BJP party workers were allegedly attacked with bamboo sticks by alleged Shiv Sena goons. ”We were attacked by goons from the Shiv Sena party. My party workers including women were attacked.
The mafia raj needs to end. The Mumbai police should book the goons and strict action should be taken against them.
Our party has been fighting since long against corruption and mafia raj. I am not scared of anybody. Until the culprits are booked, I will not move from here.”
Somaiya has been openly attacking the Shiv Sena ruled civic body, calling it a ‘Den of Corruption’.
None of the police officers were available for comment. Calls to Navghar police station revealed that all the senior officers were at the spot and they were trying to bring the situation under control.
Last week, Somaiya had made a statement that BJP will contest the MCGM polls alone and it wants to end Sena’s ‘mafia raj’ over the richest civic body in India. Sources said that BJP may opt for an alliance if they are given over 100 of the 227 seats.
