Indore: More than 2.73 lakh students are in race for admissions in traditional undergraduate courses offered by government and private colleges in the state. A data released by Department of Higher Education (DHE) on Wednesday indicates that 3,41,379 candidates had registered for the centralised online admission counselling. Out of them, 2,73,514 candidates got their academic documents verified, which was necessary to get admission.
“Those who did not get their documents verified won’t be considered for the admissions,” said Indore division additional director (higher education) KN Chaturvedi. The registration window for first round of online counselling for UG course like BA, BCom and BSc was to shut on June 9 and the first merit list of students was to be declared on June 14.
Instead, the DHE extended registration deadline to June 19 for UG courses. “Nearly 24,000 students can apply more for admission in UGC due to extension in deadline,” Chaturvedi said. The first merit list of students will be released on June 23. As per DHE schedule, the admission process will be held in four rounds. First three rounds will be of online counselling and the last round will be college level counselling.
Over 66 K students seek admission in PG
More than 66,000 students have applied for admission in post-graduate programmes including MCom, MA and MSc in the state. A total of 83,679 students registered for PG courses. Of them, 66,724 students got their documents verified. The first merit list of students seeking admission in PG courses will be announced on June 22. Chaturvedi said that the students whose names would figure in the merit list would have to show up at the college and submit fee for confirming the seats.
