Indore: In a bizarre development, National Student Union of India (NSUI) called a lawyer for discussion with vice-chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad on the issue of appointment of teachers. “There are many legal issues with the appointment process undertaken by the university, so our lawyer will discuss with you the case,” said the NSUI leaders went to stall the appointment process commenced on Monday amid allegations of violation of norms.
Advocate Nimish Pathak, who on Tuesday had alleged violation of norms, reached the university to plead the case on behalf of NSUI. He had heated arguments with the VC who squarely rejected the claims of violation of norms. He alleged that the university is filling sanctioned posts of readers and professors with assistant professors.
“It is a scam awaiting to happen. The university should stop the selection process immediately and issue fresh advertisement calling applications for professors, readers and assistant professors on contract basis,” Pathak advised but the VC denied taking the advice saying that they were doing nothing wrong.
“We can appoint a lower grade teacher on the post sanctioned for higher grade. The rules permit us to do so,” he told Pathak and NSUI leaders. He did not buckle even under the threat that the move will call for public interest litigation. “We are ready for the court case,” the VC said. Meanwhile, interviews for filling as many as 213 teaching posts laying vacant in different teaching departments started on Wednesday.
