Bhopal: The police department held a meet with the petrol pump owners in the city and asked them to ensure verification of their employees and installation of CCTV cameras in their premises which should also capture the movement outside. As many as 100 pump owners participated in the meet who asked for permission to install sirens in their campus so that in emergency they can blow it for alert in the area.
The tank owners expressed their need for an alarm system in their tank premises which can be used in case of theft or loot or any emergency. Police told them to stay in contact with local police station or beat-incharge of the area. According to additional superintendent of police (ASP) zone 2 Dinesh Kaushal the tank owners have been told to ensure verification of their staff. He said that the owners by and large have not done it so far.
Petrol pump owners association chairman Ajay Singh said that the verification of staff is not easy. He said that the new employee is verified after few days of work and if he leaves the job then verification is of no use. We instead want the police to provide some sort of an alarm system which can be used in emergency situations, he said.
