Ujjain : Its Christmas time and the city markets are flooded with artificial pine trees, stars, hangings, lightings, miniature Santa Claus and cards. The celebration will begin at the midnight when clock strike the bell and Jesus will be born. The padres will organise a ceremony and prayer will be held which will be followed by a prayer.
Christmas celebrations is no longer limited to Christian homes as the crowd in the city is also decorating their houses with Xmas trees, lights and buy cakes to mark the festival.This yuletide, the shops in the city have stocked a lot of items from China, Korea, and Taiwan, such as reindeer, golden cherubs, stockings, wreath, miniature lanterns, snowman, and more. In fact, some shops even sell Christmas-themed table clothes and curtains. And the show stealers, as usual, are the Christmas trees. This time, the shops have housed a variety of synthetic trees, with prices starting from Rs 25 onwards.
Shopkeeper Mohit Samnani at Shahid Park said we have trees ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 2000. The price depends on the quality of the tree. We have regular, pine, snow pine, white pine, mixed bristles, and ones made of optical fibre. Malls and markets are also decorated with Christmas trees, wreaths and lights. Even many schools have also organised celebration programmes and Santa and fairy attires are in great demand.
Christmas spirit also pervaded the city schools. Christmas was celebrated with gaiety and fervour at Little Blossoms School, Kshir Sagar. The Christmas tree was decorated with buntings and bells. Children dressed up as Santa, came with bags full of sweets. In a special assembly, the students highlighted the significance and importance of the festival. Melodious carols gave the celebrations a holy touch. Director Veenu Meena motivated the students to carry the Christmas spirit in their hearts and become messengers of benevolence in society.
Christmas was also celebrated at the free coaching classes organised by Vaishya Mahasammelan at Samajik Nyay Parisar here. Divisional president Tanuja Goyal remained present.
Organisers bring liquid nitrogen ice-cream
Various Christmas themed parties have been organised by revellers to mark the day. At the Tarantal located garden AV events have brought the liquid nitrogen cooled ice creams to the city. Director Avinash Surana informed that a DJ has also been arranged to lighten up the party beneath the Christmas tree. Visitors will liquid nitrogen cooled ice cream in environment of snow fall. Santa Claus will also be a part of the party to entertain the children.
