OUR STAFF REPORTER BHOPAL

Chief Electoral Officer Jaideep Govind has expressed concern over the fact that the number of women voters above 18 years of age does n

ot match the figure of women of this age shown in the census.

He has instructed district collectors to take special initiative to enroll names of such women voters in photo electoral rolls. Door- to- door survey is being conducted in the state from April 15 to June 15 for enrollment of left out voters in electoral rolls. The Chief Electoral Officer has instructed to solicit assistance of field workers of Woman and Child Development Department and voluntary organisations to accomplish this task.

As on January 2012, there were 930 women per thousand in the state whereas their number in electoral rolls is only 877 per thousand.
