Young priest knifed to death, friend receives injuries

Ujjain: A youth working as a priest was killed on the spot while his friend sustained injuries when four miscreants stabbed them in densely located Singpuri area in broad day light here on Monday. According to information, the incident occurred around 2.30 pm.

At that time, one Harshit Chaturvedi and his friend Ashish Sharma were talking to each other near Aatal- Paatal Bhairav Mandir.At the same time, two youths reached there and started enquiring about one Aman Sharma, but Harshit declined to identify the youth.

In between, two more youths riding on a white Activa scooter reached there and enquired from the said two youths whether they got the address of Aman Sharma. They also passed vulgar comments on which Harshit made strong protest, leading to a verbal duel between them.

When Harshit and Ashish started counter- offence by verbal means, the miscreants took out knives and repeatedly assaulted on the stomach and chest of Harshit, who died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.Ashish got wounds on his legs and was rushed to the Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, the assailants fled from the spot. Ashish said that the assailants wanted to finish Aman Sharma as they were quite aggrieved by his acts of posting vulgar comments on facebook.Ashish also informed that he and Harshit had no animosity with the assailants, but they attacked them as they protested their act of passing vulgar comments.

Harshit, the deceased, was son of a priest of Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir, which is located at the courtyard of Mahakaleshwar Temple.The deceased was also a priest. Soon after the incident, CSP Saurabh Mishra ( IPS officer) along with other officers reached the spot. They recovered a mobile phone from the spot. They also reached the Civil Hospital to know about the condition of Ashish.

ASP ( City) Rajesh Vyas also enquired about the incident from Ashish. Mishra said that Ashish has identified one of the assailants.According to him, posting of vulgar comments on facebook could be a reason behind the assailants’ motive of murder.
