Ujjain : There will be no crisis for drinking water this summer, unlike last year, according to officials of City Water Works, here. Even though the water level in Gambhir Dam Reservoir, the main sources for the city, is decreasing, it would be sufficient till July. The water level at Gambhir Dam is 510 Mc Ft on Wednesday against the maximum capacity of 2250 of Mc Ft, said Prakash Sharma, Ujjain Municipal Corporation’s (UMC) water works committee in-charge.
Also monsoon is leaving the city in a huge conundrum over the water capacity required to keep the agriculture season and the drinking water supply afloat. However if argument of MeT department is valid then monsoon is nowhere to be seen around first week of July, And in the meantime scorching sun is keeping its tight vigil on water reservoirs around, if present conditions continue and evaporation loss are accounted, including illegal drainage of water, then it is certain that relevant authorities must take preparatory actions . It was also learnt that currently UMC is in no mood to cut off the regular supply of supply water and denizens are safe from rotation supplies of water.
