VU accords warm welcome to Man of Letters Abbas Tabish

Ujjain: Vikram University ( VU) felicitated renowned shayar ( Urdu poet) Abbas Tabish from Lahore ( Pakistan) here on Tuesday. Tabish recited his famous compositions on this occasion. Addressing on this occasion, VU Vice- chancellor TR Thapak said Tabish had been making sincere efforts for broadening the pride of South Asia through his compositions. “ He is the shayar of profound heritage of Urdu and Hindi.

We can hear the voice of Indian sub- continental ambiance in his compositions,” he said. “ Tabish has tried to overcome the barriers of religion, language, region, race and others through his shayari. Entire family of university feels proud to felicitate such personality,” he added. Abbas Tabish enthralled the audience while reciting his heart touching ghazals and poems. He imparted a message of love, brotherhood and peace through his verses.

He initiated his performance through his rather known style and said he wrote on love which was the most demanded thing in society at present. His well known compositions which were admired by everyone were; ‘ Meri tanhai badhate ha, chalen jate ha. Hans talab me aate ha, chalen jate ha’, ‘ Bikhar jane ke dar se ful khilte hi na the, fir ek tej andhi me darakht nikal aae’, ‘ aar ek bar parindo ko hukumat de do, ye kisi shahar ko maqtal nahin hone denge’ and ‘ Hamko dil ne nahi halat ne nazdik kiya ha, dhup me dur se har shaks shajar lagta ha’. Tabish was felicitated with shawl, coconut and memento by TR Thapak, Registrar BL Bunkar, Prof Harish Pradhan, Shiv Chaurisiya and Proctor Shailendra Sharma. Profs edarnarayan Joshi, Nageshwar Rao, Shriram Dave, Prashant Puranik, Premlata Chutail, Achala Sharma, Shailendra Parashar and others were present on this occasion. Prashant Puranik proposed the vote of thanks.
