Ujjain : Before the city could wake up to the day’s activities, its future was in new hands. The process of counting of votes, which started at 8 am, cleared the air till noon. Almost all results were declared by then.
The results also took many supporters by surprise, who could be seen coming even after the candidates had left the counting centres. Of the results declared at the Dewas Road side of Ujjain Engineering College, the Congress supporters were seen waving flags. Meanwhile, at the Indore-Ujjain highway side, it was the BJP supporters who could be seen dancing with dhol, DJ and band parties and in tow.
The policemen had tough time handling the traffic on the highway as it was a Sunday and rush of tourists was heavy towards the city in view of holiday and Monday. Blocking the venue, they made it difficult even for officials to leave the venue. Till evening the counting centre saw a mixed bag of results with workers of all parties celebrating their candidates’ victory. BJP supporters were seen rejoicing the most.
