Ujjain: War of credit, Mayor and BJP MLA dedicate Chakore Park three days in advance

Ujjain: In a sudden move Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) executive authorities (read BJP men) on Monday evening dedicated renovated Chakore Park to public. The event was held three days in advance to claim credit ahead of enforcement of model code of conduct for General Elections 2019.

Interestingly, ahead of dedicating the park, they had held an official meeting and decided to organize dedication function on March 7. Irked over the developments, Congress corporators torched effigy of Mayor Meena Jonwal. According to reports, mayor held a meeting in Grand Hotel in the evening.

The meeting was also attended by commissioner Pratibha Pal and Leader of Opposition Rajendra Vasishtha among others. During the meeting, the date of dedication programme was finalized as March 7 with PWD minister and district in-charge Sajjan Singh Verma as chief guest.

However, around 6 pm, Mayor Jonwal along with MLA Mohan Yadav and other BJP leaders and corporators reached Chakore Park and dedicated it. Even area corporators
