Ujjain: UMC all set to raze Shanti Palace

Ujjain: After clearing most of the pillars and shoulders of Shanti Palace Hotel and Shanti Clark-inn Hotel throughout Sunday, the Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) appeared all set to demolish the entire construction by explosions on Monday.

On the lines of launching day on Saturday, the UMC squad equipped with various machines and manpower reached the hotel premises at about 10 am.

Heavy police force was also deployed in the premises to avoid any untoward incident. On the first day 23 out of 46 pillars of the hotel were cleared and rest were cleared on Sunday.

As per the strategy, all pillars of ground floor are being opened-up. Holes are being created in these pillars through drilling in which explosives will be filled on Monday and the entire 5-storeyed construction will be brought down.

Explosives expert from Indore Sharad Sarvate and superintending engineer Ashok Verma were seen supervising the entire operation.
