Ujjain: An increase in the support price of crops to the tune of 1.5 times is expected shortly.

Following farmers’ demands that crops be purchased on the basis of a support price, a meeting was held by food commissioner, Faiz Ahmed Kidwai on Monday at the Simhastha fair office, during which it was decided that purchase based on support prices would begin on March 15.

The food commissioner also gave instructions to formulate a plan for the safe storage of crops. According to Kidwai, the sowing area of wheat had been increased by 5 lakh hectares across the state which would result in a huge jump in the production of wheat.
