Ujjain: Pre monsoon showers drenched the city and provided respite from heat wave to the dwellers on Wednesday.
The rain started from 2am and ended on 7am. According to government Jiwajirao observatory weatherman 30 millimeters rain was recorded on Wednesday and the city has received 37 millimeters rain so far.
According to weatherman the scattered rain is likely in the next two days. Overcast condition prevailed in the city from Tuesday afternoon but finally the clouds drenched the city in early morning of Wednesday.
Water logging in low lying areas
After the rain water logging was witnessed at low lying areas near the river Kshipra. The sewerages of the city got jammed due to garbage. Inflow from choked gutters started mixing with the water of river Kshipra in the morning which was witnessed by priests who reached early morning for performing worship at Ramghat.
Ghattiya, Tarana receive 36 mm rain
The pre monsoon rain also drenched the tehsils of the city. Tehsil Ghattiya and Tarana received 36 millimeters of rain while Barnagar received 11 millimeters. The rain In Khacharod 16 millimeters, Nagda 33, and in Mehdipur 22 millimeters was recorded during last 24 hours.
