Ujjain: Collector Sanket Bhondve and Municipal Commissioner Ashish Singh today said the holy city would be completely freed of meat and chicken shops as well as slaughter houses shortly.

Both officials gave an assurance in this regard to Jain Sant, Kamalmuni on Tuesday. Kamanmuniji who had come to the city on the invitation of Swarnim Bharat Manch, left the city following the Municipal Commissioner’s assurance at a temple in Lakshminagar.

A functionary of Swarnim Bharta Manch, Dinesh Shrivastava said the main aim of Kamalmuniji’s arrival at Ujjain was to raise demands to make the city free from  meat, chicken and alcohol shops. SDM Kshitij Sharma, Municipal Deputy Commissioner Subodh Jain and other officials also met with Kamalmuniji.

Kamalmuniji told officials that if they had any problem in sorting out the matter he could talk to the Chief Minister to resolve it. The officials and collector assured him that action would be taken within the next three to four days. The Jain Sant departed from the city following this assurance.
