Ujjain: ‘Holashtak’, a period in the Hindu calendar marking the first day of Holi began on Sunday. As per Hindu mythology, no auspicious event will be held for a span of eight days during this period. This will be followed by ‘Kharmas, a month in the Hindu calendar during which too, auspicious events like marriages and other propitious events should not be conducted until April 14. All such events will take place from April 15. According to the Hindu ‘Panchang’ the festival of Holi starts from the first day of Holashtak and comes to an end on ‘Dhulendi’.
