Ujjain : There is immense possibility for tourism in the district. The possibilities have increased manifold due to the organization of Simhastha. Tourism should be promoted in the district.
This was said by Collector Kavindra Kiyawat during the meeting of Ujjain Tourism Promotion Council held at Brahaspathi Bhavan on Friday. Collector asked officials to resume Rahgiri event in the city. It should be organized twice in a month. Local artists should get opportunity in the tourism activities. Kiyawat asked officials of Tourism department for the funds provided by the Government in the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. The funds for present year should be transferred in the account of Tourism Promotion Council soon, so that tourism activities can be organized. It was told that the Council is given Rs 10 lakh every year for the tourist development.
Collector also directed officials to hold adventurous activities like paragliding, parceling, water sports, banana ride, etc to promote tourism. Appropriate spots should be selected for the activities. During the review of the works being done by the department, it was found that the development work of cafeteria proposed near Mangalnath was not completed till then and the construction of ghats near Shani temple is also incomplete. Kiyawat directed officials to start the development works. Municipal Commissioner Avinash Lavania and others were present.
