Thousands visit Siddhvat for peace to ancestors’souls

Ujjain: More than 30,000 devotees visited Siddhavat and Gayakotha for tranquility of souls of their ancestors here on Sunday. People whose ancestors passed away performed Chaturdashi Shradh. Visitors gathered at temples from wee hours. They were standing in long queues from 2 am.

Three to four hours were spent in reaching inside the temple. Pt Surendra Chaturvedi and his colleagues opened doors of Siddhavat temple at 4 am and performed dugdhabhishek. Pt Chaturvedi said Chaturdashi of Mahalaykal was very significant in Hindu religion and milk was offered to the Lord. He said more than 50, 000 visitors would visit the temple on Monday on the sacred occasion of Sarvapitra Amavasya. Worship is performed on all 16 days of shradh, yet on Sarvapitra Amavasya heavy rush of devotees was seen. Tarpan and pind daan is performedby the people.

Likewise, Gayakota temple was overfilled with people. 350 to 400 pind daan were performed by devotees at Siddhvat which were 250 previous year. Similarly, more than 200 pind daan was performed at Gayakotha. Both temples have their historical importance of performingpind daan and tarpan. Therefore, devotees from all over the country visit these temples.
