Ujjain : There seems to be no end to increase in theft incidents in the city. Though the local police have intensified patrolling to keep a check on such incidents, these are taking place at regular intervals. Over 10 theft incidents had been reported in city only during the past one month.
In the latest incident, some unidentified thieves broke into a house in the Nagehsvar Dham Colony area under Chimanganj Mandi police circle in broad daylight and decamped with cash and gold jewelry worth 2 lakhs on Monday. The theft took place in the house of Omkarlal, who is a teacher by profession. In his complaint to the police, Omkarlal said the theft took place after he left his house for attending a marriage function organized at Makdon.
When he returned to my house in the evening, he found the locks of doors of the rooms broken. He said the thieves stole Rs 200000 in cash and gold jewelry from his house. He informed the police about the incident. A police team, of Chimanganj Mandi police station, reached the spot and initiated investigation. The rising incidents of theft have spread a feeling of insecurity among the residents. The police have failed to crack most of the cases. The failure of the police in preventing theft incidents has raised a question mark over the functioning of the Police Department.
