Ujjain : Employees whether temporary or permanent are entitled for the deduction of provident fund as per the Employee Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, but still Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Committee (SMTMC) has not been deducting PF of its temporary employees.
SMTMC officials shrug off from their responsibility by claiming that these employees gets honorarium for their services hence they are not entitled for the benefit. Sub-regional office of the Provident Fund Organisation (PFO) is also conducting an enquiry on the complaint of one of the employees of SMTMC, CP Sharma but committee has not provided complete documents to the PFO. Sources informed that committee knowingly delaying the enquiry by not submitting the documents to protect itself as Commissioner of PFO possess quasi judicial powers.
On being contacted, Assistant PF Commissioner Sharad Chauhan informed Free Press that they are conducting inquiry in the case under the provision 7-A of the Act, but it is getting delayed as SMTMC is not providing us the requisite documents. It is worth noting here that the SMTMC has also stopped giving benefit of PF to its 156 permanent employees from last two months after the decision in SMTMC’s meet which was convened on October 7. None of the SMTMC officials was ready to clarify their stand on the issue.
