Ujjain : City residents have pressed the panic button after a city resident tested positive for the swine flu in past week. In past week over hundreds of people thronged the city Hospitals to get themselves or their children screened for swine flu.
Following the confirmation of the new case of swine flu in the city last week, a number of residents are visiting doctors due to the confusion between the symptoms of common flu and swine flu. According to the raw data available from Madhav Nagar and Divisional Civil Hospital more than 15,000 residents have visited the hospitals in past 20 days, with cases of flu.
Civil Surgeon Dr DPS Gaharwar said residents have got scared after another positive case. Over a thousand people with cold cough and fever came to our hospital on Saturday. Our team of 5 doctors has been checking them since morning. Around 150 persons have been taken into special care and are being monitored in case of any further emergency. We have not got any new cases of swine flu.
4 new samples have been taken from the city on Saturday. IDSP officer Dr Devarishi Gohiya said we have lifted 4 samples from the city, out which one is of an adult, who is a suspected patient, at the Patidar Hospital. While the other 3 samples belong to children admitted in the Civil Hospital. He said the virus has become sporadic and cases will be found around the year now.
Dr Devarishi Gohiya said there is no reason for people to panic. He said we have been taking samples regularly from the hospitals around the city regularly. We are doing everything from our side. There is no need to panic when a person is tested positive for swine flu. Identifying the early signs of the flu and getting appropriate treatment play a role in controlling the spread of the disease to a large extent, he said. Swine flu has different kinds of complexities, one need to follow basic precautions against swine flu. Also, the infection can be managed if diagnosed timely, he added.
