Stage set for final & royal procession of Mahakal

Ujjain : Stage is all for the final and royal procession of lord Mahakal on Monday. The Civil and Police administration were seen giving final touches to the preparation for the ‘Shahi Sawari’ (Royal Procession) of lord Mahakal. The district administration has declared the local holiday in three tehsils including Ujjain, Tarana and Ghattiya on Monday in view of Shahi Sawari of lord Mahakal.

Royal preps for Royal procession

The entire procession route has been decked up with artificial lights and decorative items to welcome deity. Senior administrative officials including collector, municipal commissioner, and temple administrator made inspection of the procession route and issued directives to the officials. The city is all set to accord grand welcome to Lord Mahakal on the occasion of Shahi Sawari. Administration has made extensive arrangements to take out the royal procession smoothly. Around three lakh devotees will mark their presence during the procession. As the Simhastha Fair-2016 is nearing, administration appears to be conscious to make firm arrangements to host Shahi Sawari.

Procession route

Lord Mahakal in the replica of Chandramouleshwar will preside in the silver palanquin while Lord Manmahesh will ride on the royal elephant. Procession will move from the Mahakaleshwar Temple at 4 pm after worship at Sabha Mandap. It takes around 6.30 hours for the royal procession to complete the 7 kilometer long sawari route and the palanquin returns to the temple at around 10.30 pm.

Police force will pay guard of honour to the deity at the entrance of the temple. Then the procession will head towards Mahakal Road, Gudri Chouraha, Bakshi Bazaar, Kaharwadi and will stay at Ramghat for worship of holy Kshipra. Again the procession will move towards Ramanjukot, Modh ki Dharamshala, Kartik Chowk, Khati ka Mandir, Satyanarayan Mandir, Dhaba Road, Tanki Chouraha, Chhatri Chowk, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazaar, Gudri Bazaar and will conclude at the temple.

Directives for the public

Bhajan Mandalis having only 25 members will accompany the procession. They will not be allowed to carry any photo, replica or statue of the deity along with them. Live telecast of the procession will be made on the website www.mahakaleshwar.nic.in. Traders should not keep their furnaces on having pan filled with hot oil on road sides.

Devotees should not walk in opposite direction of the procession and they should stay at their place till the procession is ended. Devotees should not park vehicles in the streets. They should not throw coins, coconuts and fruits on the way. Prasadi distribution is not allowed during the procession. Unnecessary crowd should not gather around the palanquin.

Police ensures tight security for procession

Police administration and Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) had a meeting on Saturday to ensure smooth darshan to devotees visiting Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlingam on the second procession of Shravan month on Monday. Common devotees will stand in queue from Madhav Seva Nyas and will meet the lord after passing through old administrative office, barricades, Vishram Dham and Sabha Mandap. Mahakaleshwar temple priest, purohit, media persons, VIPs and devotees having receipt of Rs 1500 will make entry from Mahakal Pravachan Hall. Counters for special passes will be held near Pt Suryanarayan dharamshala. Shoe stand will be available at Madhav Seva Nyas. Special press coverage stands have been erected at the new building in front of the temple, Rano Ji Ki Chhatri and the roof top of Gopal mandir.
