Ujjain : Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (SMTMC) has not deducting the Provident Fund (PF) of its 156 permanent employees from last two months since decision was made in this regard in the last meeting of temple committee.
Employees of the committee are barred from their right despite it is mentioned clearly in the Employee Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act that any establishment engaging more than 20 employees falls in the purview of the Act.
Acting arbitrarily, the officials of SMTMC have stopped deducting the PF of employees and have sidelined all the related laws. On being contacted Administrator, RP Tiwari tried to shrug off from his responsibility from the issue and said that this decision was taken in the meeting which was held on October 7.
Few days ago employees of committee had collectively submitted an application to the Temple Administrator, RP Tiwari and requested to keep their demand before Collector Kavindra Kiyawat who is also officiating president of the SMTMC.
Employees confess in low tone that committee take works for long hours from us but never keeps our part before higher authority. One of the employees, CP Sharma informed that he has already made a formal complaint in this regard to the Regional PF Commissioner.
On being contacted, labour lawyer Brij Mohan Gehlod told Free Press that from the day employee joins the establishment he/she gets entitled for the PF deduction and nature of job weather is temporary or permanent does not matter.
And if employer violates the law then he could be penalised and prosecuted in the court, he added.
