Urban Admin and Dev Minister convenes first review meeting at Bhopal
Ujjain: With the mega international event Simhastha Fair- 2016 hardly two years away; a major part of which will be washed out in conducting Lok Sabha and Municipal Corporation elections as well as due to monsoons, the State government and its different agencies do not appear to be serious enough for well- planned and adequate preparations for its smooth, secure and successful hosting.
This was evident when the Urban Administration and Development Minister Kailash Vijayavargiya convened his first review meeting of the Simhastha Fair preparations at Bhopal on Thursday evening. Despite lack of time for preparations, Vijayavargiya had played a key role in the successful hosting of the Simhastha Fair- 2004.
Since then, he has been looking after the charge of district minister as well. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had bestowed responsibility of Urban Administration and Development Ministry on him, which is the main host of the mega event.
Moreover, when the districts were allotted to the ministers, Vijayavargiya was given the charge of Ujjain district for the fourth time keeping in mind the Simhastha Fair preparations.
Vijayavargiya himself found this as a biggest challenge for him, but convening his first review meeting at Bhopal seemed a formality as no new decision was taken there. Likewise, directives and instructions were repeated and a number of burning issues viz road widening, construction of railway over- bridges and river bridges, acquisition of Simhastha Fair land, implementation of Simhastha Mater Plan etc were also not takenup for consideration.
Barring Ujjain South MLA Mohan adav, no other peoples’ representative was invited for the meeting. Even the Simhastha Fair Authority chairman Divakar Natu was also sidelined from the meeting. Despite repeated efforts of the Free Press, Vijayavargiya was not available for comment on the issue.
Meanwhile, an official release informed that Principal Secretary, Urban Administration and Development, S N Mishra, Principal Secretary, Energy, Mohammed Suleman, Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, K K Singh, Divisional Commissioner, Arun Pandey, District Collector, B M Sharma and others were present in the meeting. According to the release, the Urban Administration and Development Minister said that less time has been left for the development works pertaining to the Simhastha Fair and thus all sanctioned works should be completed within the stipulated time. He directed the concerned officers of public works department, water resources department and police department to make better road, ghat and security arrangements, respectively.
Hotel bhumipujan on Makar Sankranti
Urban Administration and Development Minister and District In- charge Kailash Vijayavargiya will perform bhumi- pujan for the construction of a hotel on the land of PWD’s workshop in front of the Shipra Residency during a programme on January 14. This hotel is being constructed by the State Tourism Development Corporation under the Simhastha Fair- 2016 preparations. During the review meeting at Bhopal on Thursday, which lasted for about two hours, progress of ongoing works was mainly discussed. Divisional Commissioner Arun Pandey informed that new proposals will be considered during a high power meeting to be held on January 20 at Bhopal under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Antony Disa.
