Seven get 3 yr jail for manufacturing fake beedi

Ujjain: Local court on Tuesday convicted seven accused for manufacturing fake beedies and sentenced three years of imprisonment to each one and imposed a fine of Rs 3.5 lakh. SP Anurag Kumar informed that Madhav Nagar police had arrested seven accused including Mathuradas, son of Raghunath; Ashok, son of Hiranand; Sanjay, son of Nirmal; Dheeraj, son of Narbi; Raghuveer, son of Ramdas Jain; Bhagwandas, son of Bheyalal and Vasudev, son of Fulchand from Kanchanpura for manufacturing fake beedies on August 27, 2001. The accused were booked under Sections 420, 467, 468 of IPC and 103/104 of Trade Mark Act. Police had recovered 100 packets and 50,000 rappers of 30 number Beedi brand. CJM Gangacharan convicted seven accused and sentenced them to three year imprisonment each and also imposed fine of Rs 50,000 each on them.
