Ujjain : Seers including Jain seers on Tuesday came up in support for long pending demand of Swarnim Bharat Manch (SBM) demanding the ban on sale of meat and liquor in a two kilometre radius of Mahakaleshwar temple.
The Dharna was organised in front of Mahakaleshwar temple. Jain seer Kamalmuni Kamlesh and Sant Ramkishore Sharan from Ayodhya joined the Dharna of SBM in support of their demands. The SBM for a month has been demanding ban on the sale of liquor and meat near the temple area. A clash between the police and the agitators was also averted as the administration had not permitted the Dharna.
The convener of the Dharna Dinesh Shrivastavs said, “We had requested for the permission of Dharna a day earlier but the administration did not give us permission on purpose.” Later as the mob grew the temple administrator RP Tiwari reached the area and pacified the protestors and assured them of action soon, after which the protestors relented.
