Ujjain : Even as chain snatchers continue to strike the 3 city the under staffed police has pulled up its socks to deal with the menace in the city. SP Manohar Verma on Thursday convened a special meeting on the issue and directed the senior cops to increase the police vigil in their areas. ASPs, CSPs and TIs of all the police station in the city attended the meeting.
The top cops were instructed to increase vigil around the crowded places of the city including markets and marriage halls, in the season. The cops will now be deputed in the civil dress to nab the miscreants easily. SP Verma also declared a prize of Rs 15,000 to the team who nabs the chain snatcher.
Interestingly, according to informed sources, though the deputing cops in civil dress is a novel one, the knowledge that rise in crime during night and crowded places is not recent has been known since time immemorial.
Yet, it is only now that a concerted effort to curb crime during nights has been initiated. A special team composing of 50 cops has been constituted which will patrol around the city in crowded places such as busy markets and will execute their work silently.
