Mumbai Promising junior cricketers Armaan Jaffer ( U- 14), Akhil Herwadkar ( U- 16) and Sagar Gorivale ( U- 19) have been awarded the Ramesh Rajde Memorial sports scholarships by former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar.
Prolific batsman Jaff
er received Rs 15,000 and a certificate while all- rounder Herwadkar and bowler Gorivale bagged Rs 25,000 each in cash and a certificate in memory of Rajde, who played for Dadar Union club and became a mentor for many young cricketers till his untimely death.
In his memory the trust for young sportspersons was established in 2007 and this is the fifth year of the scholarships. Former India opener Anshuman Gaikwad and Vijay Chowgule, chairman, Chowgule Group, instituted the Ramesh Rajde Trust.
