An earthquake hit large parts of northern and eastern India Sunday evening, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake, with the epicentre in Sikkim, measured 6.8 on the Richter scale and struck aro

und 6.10 p.m., as per the initial report put out by the US agency.

Tremors were felt in Delhi and adjoining regions, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna and Guwahati.
