Protector of tribal rights struggling for his own

BHOPAL Howcan the crores of tribal residents of the State expect justicewhen the person mandated with the responsibility of protecting their rights is himself struggling to secure what is his due.

Tribes Commission Ramlal Rautel, who enjoys the status of minister, moves around in an auto rickshaw. It is now almost three years since Rautel has took over as chief of the Commission but he yet to get an official vehicle. He has been deprived of the facility owing to indifferent attitude of the Secretary of the Commission, who has not paid any attention to the note- sheet send by him in this regard.

Talking to Free Press, Rautel said after he joined the Commission in 2010, he was provided a 1996- Ambassador car, which was in a poor shape. Since he has to tour entire state in connectionwith thework of the Commission, he hired private taxis, paid for by the government.

For the part three months he was moving in an auto rickshawever since the new secretary Sanjay Varshney took charge of the office.

Varshney neither arranged for a private vehicle nor made any alternative arrangement despite a note sheet issued by him in this regard. This has hampered his work, he said.

He said that he had even informed the Minister Vijay Shah in this regard. He said Varshney who holds additional charge is working with least interest in the department.

He said that recently he had informed principal secretary Shailendra Singh about this and he has probably given instructions in this regard.
