Ujjain : Cyber cell of the police department is proving inefficient to nab the criminals and now department is mulling to go back on the traditional methods of policing. Superintendent of Police (SP), MS Verma admitted this fact while talking to pressmen on Sunday and said now again as per the traditional method we are considering to post cops in civil dress at different prominent places of the city to strengthen our intelligence network.
From last fortnight city has witnessed sudden spurt in the crime and two back to back robberies of Rs 13 lakh and Rs 2.10 lakh have raised questions over policing of the city. In the face saving exercise, SP Verma addressed the press conference in one of the cases of attempt to murder and tried to pat his back by arresting the 3 accused in the case within two months. However, main conspirator Sunil Parihar is still absconding after the case.
Owner of the Rivera Bar, Satinderpal Singh Khanuja was stabbed by three unknown miscreants near Trimurti Talkies, soon after he closed the bar on midnight of October 5. Khanuja in his statement to Kotwali police had expressed suspicion on Sunil Parihar former owner of the wine shop located at Muni Nagar.
One of the accused Hemant Wadia had been arrested by Neelganga Police in the matter of illicit liquor case and rest two, Sunny Maratha and Deepak Wadia was arrested by Kotwali police on Saturday night. Maratha confessed in the interrogation that Parihar had offered him the amount of Rs 3 lakh to kill Khanuja in old rivalry over dominance of the liquor business of the city.
