Ujjain : To prevent any untoward incident during Deepawali, the police on Wednesday beefed up security in and around the city.

An anti-sabotage squad was seen carrying out search operations at the local bus stand, railway station and the crowded markets of the city in the afternoon. Apart from that, the police visited hotels and guest houses to verify their visitors’ lists. Talking to Free Press, SP MS Verma said, apart from nearly 500 policemen of the city led by senior cops have been deployed at various vital points, including city railway station, bus stand and every important roundabouts, to maintain law and order on Deepawali.

Other than this, the new dial 100 FRV’s are ready to service the citizens in any incident. Further the hoteliers have been issued instructions not to register any visitor without taking visitors identity proof.

Besides, Special Forces have been deputed at the busy market places and other crowded areas to check the activities of mischievous elements, he said. While the police stations and districts are almost operating at full strength with all leaves cancelled to maintain the law and order situation, specialised units such as Crime Branch has also been asked to provide constant inputs as far as intelligence is concerned, he added.
