Ujjain : An industrial unit of the plastic goods manufacturing factory located in the Maksi Road located industrial area was gutted in the fire here on Friday.
The fire erupted at around 6.30 am and within minutes it spread in the entire unit, turning goods, and machinery worth lakhs into ash. Most embarrassing moment was that when the newly purchased foam tenders failed to start in time and the untrained firemen faced hassle in operating the tender. The embarrassment continued when the foam they had prepared spilled on the ground. Parvej Khan, owner of the unit, said huge quantity of raw material had arrived in the factory, which was destroyed in the fire. He said he received information about fire from an employee at around 7 am. “By the time I reached here, fire tenders were trying to douse the fire. I reached at around 6:45am,” he said.
An eyewitness said they were working in the factory when he saw smoke coming out of the factory. Initially, the staffers tried to douse the fire, but it spread on the premises of the factory within minutes. Several employees were sleeping on the backside and they evacuated the place immediately. They informed the owner of the factory, besides calling the fire brigade. Fire brigade officials said that they received information at around 6:40am and immediately fire tenders from Barnagar, Nagda, Mahidpur and Dewas were dispatched to the spot. It took around four hours for the fire tenders to douse the fire. He said all the goods and machinery were damaged in the fire.
Madhav Nagar police said short circuit is said to be the reason behind the incident, but the investigations were under progress to ascertain the cause behind the fire incident.
