Ujjain: Students of Podar International School ( PIS) came forward to spread the message of ‘ Save Water and Secure the Future’ and highlighted the issue responsible for water crisis. School organised a Student- led Press Conference as part of the annual ‘ Parivartan’ Drive, celebrating the UN International ear of Water Cooperation.
Students of PIS have been celebrating ‘ Open Minds Week’, focusing on lessons and activities geared towards water cooperation initiatives at the individual and community levels. The ‘ Parivartan’ Drive will serve as a culmination of the students’ learning and will serve as a tool to translate their learning into fruitful action.
Addressing the press conference, principal Soumitra Singh Thakur said that everyone was responsible for water and its sustainable use. There were solutions to these serious natural resource challenges which they wish to highlight.
Thakur also added that the Parivartan Drive was coincided with over 55,000 students from over 52 PISs walking with the same goal in different states across India. At the beginning of the programme, a standard III student, Pragya, administered an oath to others to save water & secure the future. Several students gave presentations on the title ‘ Water is precious and limited so taste it and don’t waste it’.
Students of standard IV and V enacted a street play at Tower Square to make people aware about saving water and its sustainable use. Moreover, children, teachers and parents took part in a walkathon between Shahid Park and Tower Square to mark the Parivartan Drive.
