The incident of rupture of a BMC pipeline at Parsi Gymkhana, Dadar resulted in acute water shortage in Parel, Dadar, Matunga & Wadala regions of the city on Sunday. The repair work has been started and residents will

get regular supply of water only after the repair work gets over.

” We have started the repair work, we will be able to finish it till Monday evening,” said Tawadia, assistant engineer of the Hydraulic Department.

The reason for the pipe burst is not yet known but pipelines in this region are almost 100 years old, so it is learnt from past incidents that these pipelines continually

continually face maintenance issues.

The pipe which burst was 12 feet deep and the distribution line was 48 inches long.

The residents living in Parel, Dadar, Matunga and Wadala will face water cuts and will have to wait for almost a day to have regular supply of water.
