Ujjain: As per the directives issued by Public Health and Family Planning Department in the gazette of Madhya Pradesh, physically and visually challenged persons will get certificate of disability from hospitals located at district and civil hospital, community health centres and civil dispensaries.

Usually physically, visually, multiple and mentally disabled people have to depend on Central Office at Madhav Nagar Civil Hospital for disability certificate.Disabled persons from far off areas of the district have to come here to get the certificate.

The state government took cognizance over the issue and took decision in the favour of the disabled people. Certificates of disability will be issued at district, civil hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres and civil dispensaries by incharge medical officer or medical officer nominated by him. Specialist in ophthalmology/ post graduate medical officers will issue certificate of blindness.

Specialist in Psychiatry will issue certificate of mental disability. A medical board specified by Civil Surgeon/ Chief Medical Officer/ Head of District Hospital will issue certificate of Multiple Disabilities.
