Peace committee meeting held ahead of Eid, Shahi Sawari

Ujjain : The peace committee meeting called by Collector Kavindra Kiyawat on Tuesday to maintain peace in the city during upcoming festivities of all religions was concluded peacefully amidst a few complaints.

The meeting was called by the collector to discuss the peace-keeping measures during upcoming festivities including Eid, Janamashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Sawari of lord Mahakaleshwar. Collector on the occasion appealed the citizens to respect the feelings of each other and keep the environment harmonious. He also gave assurance to the all religious heads for proper security and amenity arrangements at all festivals.

The Sikh community head who participated in the meeting rued the apathy of the administration over removal of fish and meat shops near the Dudhtalai Gurudwara. They said it has been almost 15 years and the administration has failed to pay attention to their demands.

The collector also assured of proper drinking water and sanitation services at the Roja compound and the Idgah where Bohras and Muslims offer Namaj on the occasion of Eid. Others complained about the poor sanitation and traffic jam on the sawari roads, the collector here also assured that a plan will be chalked out soon.

Most of the members of peace committee complained of the irregular electricity supply and they said the situation could worsen during the festivals. The DISCOM representatives present in the meeting assured of regular and unbarred power supply during the festivals and provided three new complaint help line numbers. Even after this some committee members demanded expulsion of the company from the city.

Later issues of traffic congestion, beggars, derelict persons and unfair charging by auto and magic operators were discussed. Collector during the ending session appealed all the members that, on Tuesday officially the bugle for Simhastha fair 2016 was blown, and all the residents must prove themselves worthy and treat the tourists and pilgrims as guests. SP ManoharVerma, ASP Amarendra Singh, MLA RamlalMalviya, Rup Pamnani, DrRameshwar Das, Shamim Ahmad Khan and Ibrahim Saheb were present.
