Ujjain : No concrete solution could be brought to the fore by the top brass officials of the city who once again visited the disputed Narsing Ghat on Tuesday.
Divisional Commissioner Dr Ravindra Pastor, fair officer Avinash Lavania, Collector Kavindra Kiyawat, PHED Superintendent Engineer VK Tiwari, and Executive Engineer PWD Shobha Khanna were present in the meeting held at 10 am on the Narsing Ghat.
The officers roamed around for an odd hour discussing issue of discontent between the PWD and the WRD department. The construction of ghat at the Narsing Ghat has been clearly curtailed due to fund paucity, due to which the work has been curtailed by the WRD. Now with the stopped work the PWD have written to the WRD for completing their works, as the river flow is disturbing the topography of the area and geographical conditions are not allowing them to work. EE PWD Shobha Khanna informed Pastor about the gravity of the condition, saying they will finish their work of retaining wall and bridge but the reduction of ghat length will ultimately lead to threat to the structure and disturbance to river channel. Over which she was directed to complete her work, as other departments are doing.
The officers witnessed the condition for themselves but no solution except weaving looms came out in the meeting. Other than the officers also sidestepped various anomalies brought to their attention by the departments.
