Ujjain : Panic gripped the Mahakaleshwar temple locality, after notorious criminal LalaTripathi was shot dead in a gang war that occurred between Lala gang and the AshishDubey gang, near Yogmaya temple, here on late Sunday.
Panic gripped the whole area, as heavy firings were hauled open by both parties. LalaTripathi was shot dead on the spot and the gruesome gun shots to his head were enough to reveal the gravity of enmity.
Two more persons including Ravi Pachori, Lala’s gunman and one Ajay Awad, also died in the cross firing. Four more, two from each party sustained serious injuries in the shootout and were shifted to hospital. Nilesh alias Bablu Nigam, UmeshShukla from Lala gang and AshishDubey and RohitPandya from Dubey gang were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, where they are under treatment.Heavy crowd gathered the Civil Hospital on late night, and reports of stone pelting also came, where police had to use force to disperse the crowd.
SP MS Verma told Free Press, “The incident occurred around 9.45 pm, near Yogamaya temple, when both Lala and Ashish gang confronted each and verbal arguments were exchanged, which minutes later turned in heavy gunfight, in which dozens of rounds were fired by both parties. LalaTripathi was shot from close range in his head, killing him on the spot, while his gunman Ravi Pachori was also shot dead by the second party, he said”.
On the other hand Ravi Pachori from the Dubey, who was also shot, died in the Civil Hospital during the treatment.AshishDubey and RohitPandya were attacked with swords by the Lala gang and were rushed to the Civil Hospital, while Bablu Nigam and UmeshShukla, members of Lala gang were shot in leg and were admitted to Civil Hospital. Verma said the whole incident is the outcome of ShailendraTrivedi murder case in year 2008, where Lala had murdered Trivedi in broad day light. Injured AshishDubey is the close friend of deceased and had long revenge from Lala. He said the country made pistols along with a shotgun have been confiscated from the incident spot till now. Statements of the injured have been taken and further investigation is on.
Lala was on bail in the Nannu Guru Murder case and had been keeping a low profile. Over 2 dozen cases including murder, extortion, abduction and passport forging were registered against him in various police stations across the city. Recently he had appointed armed guards for security.
