Ujjain: The issue of nepotism, favouritism and irregulariteis in the distribution of the Assembly tickets in the Congress party, which was prominently raised by the Congress spokesperson Noori Khan, generated a heat here on Wednesday.
Some leaders of the Minority department of the Congress demanded the party high command to dismiss Noori from her post while the BJP national general secretary Ananth Kumar demanded the Congress high command to sack party MPPremchand Guddu. The BJP formally lodged a complaint in the matter to the election authorities whereas Noori submitted a letter to the SP seeking security for her.
On Wednesday, there were three developments on the Alot episode wherein MP Guddu succeeded in grabbing Congress ticket for his son Ajit Bourasi by hook and crook at the eleventh hour. Congress spokesperson Noori Khan had come openly against Guddu on Tuesday and demanded the party high command to probe the ticket allotment to Guddu’s son and his camp.
During a press conference she had feared that her life may come under danger for making utterances against Guddu. That’s why she reached the office of SP on Wednesday afternoon to submit a letter seeking security cover for her. SP Anurag Kumar assured to do needful.
Soon after it, BJP national general secretary and State in- charge Ananth Kumar addressed a press conference at the Press Club. Besides making various submissions and responding to different questions of the media persons, he also referred to the allegations made by the PCC spokesperson Noori Khan in the distribution of tickets. “ Congress hi- command should take cognisance of the allegations leveled by Khan as they are of serious nature and should also sack MP Guddu,” he said. On the same day, City BJP general secretary Satya Narayan Chauhan lodged a complaint to the district returning officer and demanded him to take action on Khan’s allegations in light of violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Meanwhile, addressing a joint press conference at Press Club in the evening, Congress Minority Morcha leaders Maqsood Ali, Faiz Mohammed, corporator Gaffar Pehalwan and others demanded the party hi- command to immediately dismiss Noori Khan from the post of PCC spokesperson.
According to them, Khan has struck a deal with the BJP and wants to harm the election prospects of the Congress candidates. They also said that Khan wanted a ticket from Ujjain North constituency despite a fact that she is an outsider.
