Muslim community, here on Wednesday, celebrated Eid festival with full fervor and enthusiasm, while embracing each other and sharing greeting. A special nama
z was offered at Eidgah collectively, on Wednesday morning. People decked in new apparels, prayed to the lord and wished for peace and prosperity.
Muslim community people had fasted throughout the holy month of Ramdan and paid obeisance to the lord. As the day dawned on Wednesday, hustle and bustle prevailed in Muslim localities and people were busy preparing themselves for offering namaz at Eidgah.
City Quazi, Khaliqurrehman approached Eidgah situated at Indira Nagar and got the community people to read the namaz.
About 15, 000 people were present there to offer namaz.
Long queues of people were seen there.
After offering namaz, people hugged and greeted each other. Sweet dishes comprising Sheer- khurma and sweet siwaiyyan, were cooked and served before the guests. Namaz was also offered in Shahi Masjid, Jama Masjid, Madina Masjid, Fateh Masjid, Masjid Sarwan, Bhairavgarh Masjid, Masjid Shikarigali and several others, after the namaz was offered in Eidgah. The weather held on the occasion of Eid and it did not rain in the morning and afternoon, but as dusk approached there was a light downpour.
Collector M, Geetha, SP, Rakesh Gupta, ADM, Prakash Rewal, CSP, CS Dubey and other officials were present on this occasion.
Nagar Suraksha Samiti Central Kotwali availed their services on the occasion of Eid to maintain peace and order. Minister of State for Food and Civil Supply, Paras Jain and Member of Parliament, Premchand Guddu reached Eidgah and congratulated City Quazi, Khaliqrrehman, State Haj Committee president, Sanwar Patel and Muslim community people on the occasion of Eid. Mayor, Rameshwar Akhand and Municipal Speaker, Sonu Gehlot and other corporators approached Eidgah and greeted the Muslim community people.
Mayor rebuked for prevailing mismanagement in city
As Mayor, Rameshwar Akhand reached Eidgah to greet people; one of the community members scolded the Mayor while describing prevailing mismanagement in the city. His accompanies led him away as he started abusing the Mayor in front of the public.
