Ujjain : Gang of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) caught in troubled situation when it tried to catch the stray animals from Fazalpura area on Monday morning. Gang faced stiff resistance from the owners of the stray animals and furious women also tried to attack Kotwali police team with the bricks, baseball bats and wooden sticks when team tried to pacify them.

Incident occurred when the gang in-charge of the stray animals of UMC, Purshottam Dubey along with his team reached to catch around 25 animals wandering near the garbage bin located near Police Colony at Biyabani square. As the gang started their drive to catch the animals group of the owners along with the women started their protest and started building pressure on the gang to free the caught animals. A group 20-25 furious people also tried to manhandle the gang members and even attacked the police team by the bricks.

Police had to open cane charge on the furious mob to disburse them from the scene. Animal owners took the advantage of chaotic situation and freed the animals from the custody of gang members as a result gang could catch only three stray animals from the spot. UMC had decided to free the city from the menace of stray animals before the upcoming Simhastha Fair–2016, but bullying of animal owners is creating hindrance in the drive of UMC.

AAP allege bribery demanded to free the animal

Member of the local unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that UMC gang members had asked for the bribe of Rs 2000 to free the animal. Secretary of the local unit, Aashutosh Mehar informed that UMC team caught the cow of their party worker Shivnarayan forcefully. AAP party alleged that gang members forcefully took the cow in their custody while the animal was standing peacefully in the backyard of the Shivnarayan. When Shivnarayan argued with the gang member’s bribe of Rs 2000 was demanded to free the animal. Shivnaryan alleged that Kotwali police in turns registered the false cases against him at the place of registering complaint against the corrupt UMC employees. Kotwali TI, Vivek Kanodiya said that Shivnarayan was not allowing police vehicle to move from the spot therefore case of creating hindrance in the government work has been registered against him.     Zonal convener of the party, Shailendra Singh Rupawat condemned the whole matter in strong words and said that party will continue its struggle against the corruption to expose the nexus of corrupt politicos and officers.
